Weekend in St. Petersburg

Activity: World Heritage Destination: St. Petersburg Season: All year round Days: 3

white_night1 St. Petersburg or the "Northern Venice" belongs to a handful of great cities that were first planned and drawn on paper, then built. Built in one mammoth effort of creation, inspired by the will of Peter the great, by the genius of the great Italian architects and by the lust for luxury of the Russian Emperors and Empresses.

The city's cultural riches are immense. The Hermitage and the Russian Museum alone are enough for the true art lover to spend weeks in them. A modest tourist can spend several days taking in the glorious architecture, magnificent Neva river vistas and cool and somber canal nooks. The imperial palaces of Petergoff (former Petrodvorets) Pavlovsk, Pushkin (Tsarskoye Selo) and Lomonosov will demand special visits.

But even a week-end in St. Petersburg will be unforgetful and make you think of comming back here one day.
